New TV shows premiering in February 2025

February 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting month for TV lovers, with a mix of new premieres and returning favourites across various genres. Whether you’re into thrillers, dramas, or comedies, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated TV shows coming this February.

Thrilling premieres

Reacher Season 3 (Feb. 20, Prime Video): Alan Ritchson returns as Jack Reacher in this adaptation of Lee Child’s Persuader. Reacher goes undercover to infiltrate a drug kingpin’s operation while attempting to rescue an endangered undercover agent. Expect intense action and suspense as Reacher faces off against his most formidable foes yet. I am hoping the show returns to what it was in the first season. While I watched all of the second season, it wasn’t as “Reacher” as I would like it to be if that makes sense.

Surface Season 2 (Feb. 21, Apple TV+): Gugu Mbatha-Raw reprises her role as Sophie in this psychological thriller. Set in London, Sophie delves deeper into her mysterious past, uncovering shocking scandals and dangerous secrets. The new season promises more twists and high-stakes drama. This is a show I have never watched, but I see a lot of people online talking about it. Who has watched it? What’s a comparable?

Suits: L.A. (Feb. 23, NBC): This spinoff of the hit legal drama Suits follows Ted Black (Stephen Amell), a prosecutor navigating the morally complex world of Hollywood’s elite. Fans of the original series will find familiar themes of ambition and ethical dilemmas. I have pretty low expectations for this show, even though I know it will do well. It’s a great rinse-and-repeat procedural, but can it have legs without Harvey and Mike? Actually, the bigger question is, how will Canada watch this show if it’s on Peacock?

Dramatic returns

Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3 (Feb. 13, Netflix): The final five episodes of this beloved series will bring the story to a close. With unresolved conflicts and all major characters still in play, fans can expect an epic conclusion to this martial arts saga. Finally, I hate to say it but this show has been dragging for a while. I just want it to be finally over. To me Cobra Kai was pretty unknown, then it caught on as a hit, and they tried to milk it for all its worth. Probably at season too long.

Yellowjackets Season 3 (Feb. 14, Paramount+ with Showtime): The survival thriller continues its dual-timeline storytelling, exploring the aftermath of the group’s harrowing winter in the wilderness and their present-day struggles. A chilling Valentine’s Day treat for fans. I have never watched the show, but my wife enjoyed it a lot, even if difficult to watch.

The White Lotus Season 3 (Feb. 16, HBO): Mike White’s satirical drama returns with a new setting and cast, exploring themes of privilege and morality in a luxurious yet chaotic environment. It’s hard to believe a COVID throw-in show has become one of the most popular series on TV. I am looking forward to seeing Walton Goggins the most among the new cast. I also can’t wait to have that theme song back in my life – or whatever version they will use.

Unique offerings

Cassandra (Feb. 6, Netflix): A German smart home AI awakens after decades and manipulates events to integrate itself into its new owners’ lives. This dark sci-fi drama explores themes of technology and human relationships. This show sounds a little too close to home.

A Thousand Blows (Feb. 21, Disney+): Set in Victorian London, this historical drama follows two friends navigating the brutal world of bare-knuckle boxing while confronting societal challenges. I will probably check this out, even though I have been looking for reasons to cancel Disney+. Watching the trailer, it gives me Peaky Blinders vibes. The only saving grace for this streamer for me is that in Canada, that’s where Hulu and FX shows are put.

Reality and Sports Highlights

  • Is It Cake? Holiday Edition (Netflix): The popular baking competition returns with a festive twist as bakers create holiday-themed cake illusions that are both delicious and deceptive. I’m pretty sick and tired of endless baking shows, but my kids do enjoy this one. Plus Mikey Day makes me laugh.
