New TV shows premiering in November 2024

November is shaping up to be an exciting month for TV watchers (streamers?), with a wide array of new and returning shows hitting the screens. Whether you’re into thrillers, dramas, or reality TV, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated TV shows premiering in November.

Thrilling Premieres

  1. The Day of the Jackal: This adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s novel promises a gripping cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. With Eddie Redmayne leading a star-studded cast, this Peacock series combines suspense and high-stakes drama as MI6 agent Bianca pursues the elusive assassin known as Jackal. For those in Canada, like me, I believe it is airing on Showcase.
  2. Cross: Based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels, this Prime Video series stars Aldis Hodge as detective and forensic psychologist Alex Cross. The show delves into the psyches of dangerous criminals, offering a thrilling psychological ride. I am really hoping they can pull this off. Alex Cross is one of my favourite fiction characters ever and up until now, he has always been Morgan Freeman to me.
  3. Dune: Prophecy: HBO’s new sci-fi series explores the Bene Gesserit sisterhood in a prequel to the Dune saga. This show is expected to captivate fans with its intricate storytelling and expansive universe. My friend immediately called this Dune of Thrones after seeing the trailer. But, wow, I am pretty excited.

Dramatic Returns

  1. Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2: After delays and cast changes, Yellowstone returns, continuing its saga of family drama and power struggles in the American West. I have almost forgotten what happened during the first half of Season 5.
  2. Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2: The martial arts drama continues on Netflix as Daniel and Johnny face new challenges in their quest for victory at the global tournament. This guilty pleasure show needs to end. While I still enjoy it, I am happy they are wrapping it up.
  3. Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2: The treasure-hunting Pogues return with more adventures and cliffhangers, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. I have never watched this show, but the Internet talks about it a lot, so I wanted to include it.

Unique Offerings

  1. Landman: This Paramount+ drama explores the oil boom in West Texas, featuring big personalities and high-stakes drama among oil rig workers. With stars like Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Hamm, it’s set to be a captivating portrayal of modern-day fortune seeking. You had me at Taylor Sheridan.
  2. St. Denis Medical: NBC introduces this comedy set in a quirky hospital environment, promising laughs and heartwarming moments. I am not sure where it’s airing yet in Canada, but I will certainly check it out if I can.

Reality and Sports Highlights

  1. Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Boxing Match: Streaming live on Netflix, this highly anticipated boxing event is generating massive buzz as fans eagerly await this unique sports spectacle. I wonder if it’s actually going to happen?
  2. Is It Cake? Holiday: Netflix brings back its popular baking competition with a festive twist, challenging bakers to create holiday-themed cake illusions that are both delicious and deceptive. My youngest loves this show.

November 2024 offers a diverse lineup that caters to every taste, from intense thrillers and engaging dramas to lighthearted comedies and reality competitions. Whether you’re looking to dive into a new series or catch up on returning favorites, this month’s premieres promise plenty of entertainment for your viewing pleasure.
