Day 39: Kids Were Not Feeling So Sleepy

pl-daily

Oh Day 39, so close to 40. On this day, everyone was tired. Why? Well the day started at 5:30 am. Sounds about right for this dad who is still enjoying life on the PL.

Pretty quiet day although the naps were short and dad was pretty tired. It felt like a day where I did not get anything taken care of. I guess that is what Tuesday is for once Harrison goes back to school

The Spurs won, the Hawks won and Rob Ford’s world is falling apart by the minute. Now for what happened on the home front.

Day 38: A New Format For The Daily Dish

pl-daily

Well I am supposed to be sharing with you what I did on Friday. Seems like so long ago right? Well when you are on the PL, you get behind due to kids, being tired and all around disinterest with sitting at the computer.

I have been doing the daily posts for over 30 days now and have started to wonder if people find them boring? I mean, it is just 300-400 words on what I did that day. Nothing exciting for most. Short of my wife and family, not many will feel like they need to read the post every day.

Now if the boys and I do something fun and out of the ordinary, that is worth it. But for most days, it is just a list of changing diapers, making lunch and how I fill the time while the boys sleep.

So, I am going to combine two formats and make a new daily post format.

Day 37: Forgot To Say Farewell To An Old Friend – The Swing

day36-1Last night was one of this mid-week nights when you just feel drained and the last thing you want to do is sit down at the computer. Yep, that sounds like a Wednesday on the PL.

So this morning, I am playing catch up for the dedicated readers who actually are interested in the day-to-day over here. Thanks by the way.

Before I go ahead with Day 37, I want to give a proper farewell to an old friend that I forgot to mention on Tuesday.

Charlie said so long to the swing that he has been having naps in for the last several months. Not only was he pretty much not fitting in it anymore, it was time to take back the living room.

For so long now, we have been tip-toeing around and shutting down the house when he napped in the swing. We knew it was automatic, so we rode that horse as long as we could.

Day 35: A Return To Normal

day35-1With a holiday in Canada yesterday, I was not working the PL shift. The family got back in town yesterday afternoon and we slowly moved back into normal mode.

Today was the start of a new week and that meant school for Harry. We could not figure out if he was excited or not after an extra long weekend in Toronto. He said he wanted to go and then would turn around and say he wanted to stay home. Tough, he was going.

I was home with Mr. tired baby boy. Today was probably the easiest day as a parent ever. He slept most of the day recovering from his first trip out of province.

He slept for two hours after breakfast and then almost five hours after lunch.

So what did I do with all that time? I did some blogging, some other work on the computer, played with new Iron Man toys and prepped for a smokey dinner on the Big Green Egg.

Day 34: No Kids, No Wife, No Problem

day34-1Well today was a throwback of sorts for me. I was left all alone with nothing to do but what I wanted.

I mentioned my two lists yesterday, one for chores and one for fun, and I dipped into both today.

First thing this morning, after sleeping in until 8:30, I did up a photoshop of Rob Ford since his latest scandal just screamed something for   Cuzoogle. It had the immediate effect as traffic blew up for a good 20 minutes.

Ah, it was a classic morning as that is what I used to do every day five years ago when I was a full time blogger guy. Nobody around but me and my computer.

Once that was over, it was time to get out and do stuff.

First I hit up the bank to deposit a cheque and then it was off to the Halifax Shopping Centre. I still had a gift card sitting around from Christmas that had to be used there and I had been holding on to it for new shoes.

Well, I finally got there with the time to focus on footwear.

Day 33: Where Did Everyone Go?

Day 33, sunny, cold, somewhat quiet and I am getting to the daily post a little earlier in the evening. Why you ask?

Because everyone left.

Yep, my wife and boys got on a plane about an hour ago to fly to Toronto for the weekend. I dropped them off and waved to them as they went to security around 4:30 pm.

Now that I am home, it is quiet and very weird. This is my first time being away from Charlie.

They are all back on Monday.

So now what? What do I do with all this time?

Well tonight is just about living in the moment of peace and quiet. Living in the moment of not having to put anyone to bed. Living in the moment of watching TV during dinner.

Let’s back track before I start looking towards what I will be doing.

The day started with Charlie sleeping through the night again and Harry waking up dry again.

I tell yah, these two impress me every day. This weekend marks the one-year mark of me toilet training Harry, so it is cool that now is the time he is doing a great job going all night without a pee.

The only down side is the cat love to start his moaning at 5:30-6 am which is a really downer when the kids are playing their part in the movie called Sleep Through the Night.

Anyways, the cat is old and won’t be changing his ways any time soon.

Day 32: A Spoonful Of Ketchup Makes Everything Better

Good evening parents and non parents. Tired? Well, sit back and catch up about Day 32 on the PL. Today was the last day of full family until next week as my wife took what was just a girls weekend in Toronto and rolled it into a work outing and a grandkid reunion with Nana.

Simply put, my wife is packing up the boys and heading to Toronto until Monday. Yep, that is right. Supermom. As for me, I will have four days to myself and I hope you don’t feel sorry for me, because it is going to be awesome.

I will talk more about that later.

Back to today. I had both boys today so that meant an outing was needed. The weather was cool, dark and looked like rain, so the playground was out.

Day 31: Don’t You Steal My Sunshine

Day 31, hoo baby what a ride so far.

It is getting to the point where daily readers know everything that goes on. Do I need better material? Nope. Our two boys are all that is needed when it comes to what to write about.

But some days are just hard to write. Some days there is no gas left in the tank or you would rather just move straight to the couch when the kids are finally asleep.

That usually happens to me on Tuesday it seems. Not that end of the week, but Tuesday. Why?

Well Saturday, Sunday and  Monday are full days with both boys so I guess once Harry goes back to school, it is a nice break to regroup and rest up for the rest of the week.

Maybe yesterday it was because the weather was pretty cold and rainy.

So what did happen while I was hope with Charlie?
