Day 32: A Spoonful Of Ketchup Makes Everything Better

Good evening parents and non parents. Tired? Well, sit back and catch up about Day 32 on the PL. Today was the last day of full family until next week as my wife took what was just a girls weekend in Toronto and rolled it into a work outing and a grandkid reunion with Nana.

Simply put, my wife is packing up the boys and heading to Toronto until Monday. Yep, that is right. Supermom. As for me, I will have four days to myself and I hope you don’t feel sorry for me, because it is going to be awesome.

I will talk more about that later.

Back to today. I had both boys today so that meant an outing was needed. The weather was cool, dark and looked like rain, so the playground was out.

So we hit up Chapters because it has the huge kid area and well, I love being in that store.

Oh side note for those keeping track, Harry woke up dry again. That is almost every night since we stopped using night times.

Back to Chapters. Father’s Day was in full bloom there. Books about grilling, meat, beer and all the other typical man stuff were everywhere.

Harry played with the trains while I secretly looked around for a few light books for the plane ride. Found a truck book and a Winnie the Pooh book that will not only entertain him but keep the packing light.

After we exhausted our time at Chapters, we drove around and looked at several construction zones going on. Harry is addicted to seeing lifters, dump trucks and whatever other mighty machines are being used. So that was a nice way to roll into lunch.

Me: Harry what do you want for lunch today?

Harry: I don’t know, let me think about it.

H: I want ketchup.

M: With fish sticks or just by itself?

H: In a bowl.

M: Anything else?

H: Yes, a spoon please.

Yep, that’s our boy. Ketchup makes everything better.

We dined and played and before we knew it, nap time.

Today I was working on a few projects outside of Like A Dad as well as a new one that I found out today. Starting next week, I am going to do a monthly guest blog on HRM Parent. I am pretty excited about that because right now, there is not a lot of “dad” going on with their blog. I can’t wait to add to what is already an awesome site. That starts next Tuesday.

I have a few other Like A Dad projects on the go that I will share in the coming weeks.

After nap, the sun had come out, so we went outside for well over an hour. We went for two bike rides, one on the three-wheeler and one on the big bike with training wheels. Harry is such the bike rider now. He loves it.

After that, we parked the bikes and took a walk over to the marsh to see if there were any ducks. Just one.

I did learn that the house WiFi still works all the way over there.

We threw rocks in the water and took some funny pictures. I will miss the boys this weekend but they are going to have a blast with their Nana.

Other than that, the day was filled with helping my wife pack up for their trip and listening to sports talk radio.

I gave up on any house work since it will be easier to do when the house is empty this weekend. The weather is supposed to be craptacular, so I might as well work inside.

Enjoy your Wednesday night.
