Top 5 Shows Our Kids Are Watching

TV and kids. You want to avoid it, but at the end of the day, it’s going to happen (unless you don’t have a TV).
So it becomes the parent who has to decide what is best for the kids to watch. You want to find the right mix of entertainment and education. It can be tricky that’s for sure.
Our boys get a few hours of TV over the course of a day and we are okay with that. It gives us a chance to get dinner ready or have a sanity break.
Here are the Top 5 shows are kids are watching these days.
You Know Who Understands Kids – #JackAstors

Do you like to eat out? Do you have kids? Do you still like to eat out?
Taking kids no matter the age can be a real challenge when it comes to eating food outside of the house.
We have always taken our kids to restaurants and for the most part, it goes well. There has been the occasional meltdown but for the most part, our boys can handle the situation.
The frustrating part for parents (including us), is the things that send the kids to crazy town are usually the fault of the establishment.
Long waits, food that does not cool off fast enough, loud music, uncomfortable seats and finally, food that is not kid friendly.
I am taking fine dining places off the list because, well, you should not take your kids there. That is where you take your spouse or significant other when you finally get a free night.
I am more talking about the places that say they are family restaurants.
You know them. They look the same no matter where you go. The chains. As parents, we all see to migrate to these chain restaurants. You know what you are going to get and at the same time, every one else knows that kids will be present.
Recently we went to very popular chain restaurant, that really impressed me. You could tell that they had parents and kids in mind.
You know who understands kids?
My First Trip To Canada’s Wonderland As A Parent
For those of my generation, if you grew up in Canada, you knew what Canada’s Wonderland was. Even if you have never been, you knew the commercials that showcased people having a blast riding roller coasters and eating cotton candy.
My first trip to the amusement park was over 25 years ago. I remember it because it was the first summer for the white water rafting ride and we waited over three hours to get on it. I think this is where I first learned that lines sucked.
Anyways, since moving back to Toronto, I knew the time would come that we would return, but this time as parents.
Video: What Is Harrison Watching – Dinosaur Train
Here is the latest gem that has been discovered on Netflix by Harrison. Dinosaur Train.
[embedplusvideo height=”281″ width=”450″ editlink=”http://bit.ly/1dYRQzl” standard=”http://www.youtube.com/v/A6i3Z1tmfMA?fs=1″ vars=”ytid=A6i3Z1tmfMA&width=450&height=281&start=&stop=&rs=w&hd=0&autoplay=0&react=0&chapters=¬es=” id=”ep1284″ /]
The story is about buddy, an adopted T. rex. There is a train that they all ride on even though the family that Buddy lives with can fly.
The conductor of the train sounds very much like a drunk teenager and let’s not forget Dr. Scott who checks in to talk about the science of dinosaurs.
Harrison`s First Live Basketball Game
One of Harrison`s Christmas presents was tickets to go and see a Halifax Rainmen game. We have been to see the Halifax Mooseheads a few times, but never to a Rainmen game.
Harrison loves basketball and watches it on TV whenever I am watching it. He is even starting to get the rules of the game. For some reason, he loves it when the ball gets stolen. Anyways.
Sunday was being referred to as “no nap day“ because the game was at 2pm, which is usually when the boys nap.
I was looking forward to the game as well because live basketball (no matter the level) is always a treat. I have been a hoops fan for most of my life, so I would never say no to going to a game.
The exciting part was our seats were on the floor right behind the basket.
So we bundled up and headed down to the Metro Centre where the Rainmen play.
Hasbro’s Transformers Construct-Bots Review

I grew up loving Transformers. Yes, they were around long before Michael Bay got his hands on them. The cartoons, the toys, the iconic transforming sound. Loved it all.
So it is the best feeling when I get to watch my boys build their own love for the toys as the grow. Sure a few things have changed and the modern versions of the toys are much more slick and fancy, but they are still transformers.
One of the modern views of the transformers are the Construct-Bots.
Recently I was sent a few by the good folks at Hasbro. The plan was to build them with my son and then name it and post it to the web.
Well, parenting got in the way and I just got around to opening the box today.
Thanks dad, jeez. Anyways. Harrison does not even know they are in the house.
