With February coming to a close, I thought you would be interested in what blog posts are bringing in the readers.
What topics are driving the most traffic so far in 2024?
Well, it’s not surprising it’s mostly the older content about BBQ and the Big Green Egg.
While I have a parenting-themed site, it’s really just a place for people to find recipes on smoked meat.
Anyway, let’s look at what we got for 2024 so far.
Chicken thighs, ham, chicken wings, meatloaf, and jerk chicken. Let’s just say Like A Dad readers love their meats.
I am happy some of my older parenting adventures are still popular. Potty training, routines, and the different phases boys go through.
The only new post to make the list is my complaint on the new Apple Journal app that was forced upon our iPhones.
Now, while having a consistent theme is ideal, it’s clear that this blog has covered many topics that are more than about being a dad.
But, you can also argue, that they all fall under the umbrella of dad life. Sports, cooking, technology, and general opinions make up most of the dad I am haha.
Also, it will take some time and a great amount of writing about more dad-centric topics to steer this blog away from being seen for the smoking of the meats. That’s what happens when you have been around for over 10 years. The blog, not me.
Anyways, knowing the daily readers I have, I thought you would be interested to know a little of the behind the scenes of the blogging life.
Now what is different from the old days of Like A Dad and before that, Cuzoogle, is I don’t really do much sharing or promotion of my posts. As I am writing to write, I am only focused on those who are reading due to being subscribers, those who choose to come to the site, and those who find it organically.
Yes, I am aware that is not maximizing output and building more awareness, but that’s not why I am writing each day.
For 2 months now I have been posting daily and it’s become part of the routine. I look forward to it. I feel anxious about not posting. Some days are harder than others coming up with a topic to write 500 words on.
Will I ever ramp back up and really try to drive more traffic? I am not really sure. It’s very time consuming to network, submit your writings, share on other platforms, strategize on topics that could get picked up, and of course the actual writing.
I am enjoying this format for now. And that is really what I am focusing on.
So go make your chicken thighs, ham, chicken wings, meatloaf, or jerk chicken. And feel free to use any one of my recipes.
So thank you to those who check in and read and if you have any questions or are curious about the blogging life, let me know in the comments.
