While everyone else is focused on New Year’s resolutions, incoming Presidents, and whatever the latest TikTok trend is, you can be sure I am pretty much focused on what new TV shows are coming. As a long-time fan of James Patterson’s Alex Cross series, I was excited to hear that Prime Video was adapting the character into a TV show. However, after watching the first season of Cross, I can’t help but feel that the show misses the mark in capturing the essence of Alex Cross, despite some strong performances. While it offers an entertaining crime thriller, it falls short of portraying the depth and complexity that has made Alex Cross such an iconic character in modern detective fiction. Cross is probably my favourite literary character, so I was going to be a hard person to please regardless. But hey, let’s investigate.

I am a big fan of trailers for upcoming TV shows or movies. I always have been. Sometimes it’s the best part of going to the movies. Now with the likes of YouTube, you get those trailers at home as soon as they happen. You also get the trailers very, very, very early. Like years in advance in some cases. It’s become a separate industry, to be honest. You have small teasers, big teasers, and official trailers now just to build hype.
Personally I think they are starting to be too early and by the time the show or movie comes out you have mega-fatigue and don’t care anymore.
Questioning it all
That sure is an ominous title, isn’t it? Well, it’s been a week. I am still trying to make sense of the US election results but maybe I am overthinking it. America clearly has shown where it stands, and unlike 2016, it doesn’t feel like some fluke this time. It’s a result I was not hoping for, but totally expecting. So now I am questioning it all.
