With the sports world mostly on a break other than the Paris Olympics (and the Blue Jays?), it also means a lot of my regular podcasts are also on a break.

So where do I turn? I turn to Trevor Noah and his insightful podcast called – What Now? With Trevor Noah.

I would describe it as a few people sitting around and talking about what is going on in the world, but they are not just complaining. They are digging deep into actual topics and having a very interesting conversation about them.

Breaking down Doug Ford’s BBQ skills

If you live in Ontario, you know that the LCBO is on strike. That means no wine, beer, or spirits for now from Ontario’s number one place to stock up on booze. As this is not a political blog, I am not going to get into the strike and who’s right, who’s wrong, and the 56 different opinions out there. I hope it gets solved soon. I want people to go back to work. I want people to be able to easily get their alcohol again. I also certainly never want to see Ontario Premier Doug Ford BBQ again.

On Monday the leader of the Province posted a video that featured an interactive map that shows where you can buy booze while the LCBO is on strike. Again, not what I want to focus on. The whole thing stinks in my opinion, but as a backyard BBQ guy, all I could focus on was the actual grilling. Have a look for yourself.

Revisting the ‘summer of shame’

Have you seen the popular trend on TikTok of people mostly in their 20s posting videos of their daily boring lives? You know, the 5-9 after a 9-5 type POV videos. They have figured out a way to monetize having what most of us call a normal life. Spoiler alert, getting up, going to work, coming home, and making dinner is what most of us do.

It’s crazy that there are so many people who love to watch these videos, comment on them, and live inside some giant virtual warm hug where it’s okay to feel good about being normal.

What TV shows I am watching right now

Happy day after Family Day. It’s back to the normal grind for most after a long weekend of family activities, the usual weekend stuff, and catching up on TV shows.

While things were looking pretty empty for a few weeks, the TV show library is starting to pick up the pace again.

The streamers are starting to release new shows on the regular after the various strikes from last year slowed everything down.

Getting to know ChatGPT

Good morning all, happy Thursday. It’s the day before an extra-long weekend in our house. PA Day tomorrow and Family Day on Monday. So that gives today a bit of a Friday feel.

For today’s post, I wanted to share with you my learnings of using ChatGPT, the AI tool that is taking over the world.

In the early days, I used it mostly for playing around and testing what it could do. Writing silly emails to friends and seeing what it would say when you asked it subjective questions.

It’s been a huge help in resume creation and cover letter writing, as well as kick-starting some idea generation.

I still think it’s pretty obvious when you read it that a computer created it, but it’s getting better.
