A Like A Dad Update – 13 years later

Back in the heyday of blogging, it was very common to see endless blogs teaching people how to build a blog. There would be tips on POV, content, templates, what CMS to use, and of course, the results. That meant stats. Listing off how much traffic, comments, and overall engagement you were getting. It was the secret sauce to building a following. Show people how it is done and have the goods to back it up. Having authority was also the way to climb the ranks (especially Google). Those days are long gone. Blogging is still a thing, but there are far fewer people showing off how to be a “blogger” than there used to be. Now it’s pick any get-rich-quick scheme that has some kind of paid course and endless drip email campaigns.

So why am I telling you all this? Well, I thought today would be a good day to take a peek behind the curtain and give you a Like A Dad update.

New TV Shows Premiering in June 2025

Holy crap, it’s almost June! When the BBQs are sizzling, the kids are almost done with school, and your couch is calling for some prime summertime bingeing. Whether you’re into superhero suits, soapy reality shows, or twisty teen thrillers, June 2025 is stacked with new series that’ll help you escape the heat—or at least the family group chat. Just like last month, I’ve rounded up a list of new TV shows premiering across streaming and cable that are worth keeping on your radar. Let’s dive in.

Rewind to the 90s: The Magic of Renting Video Games for $3.24

There was a time, not so long ago, when Friday nights in small-town Ontario meant one thing: a trip to the local video store with a pocketful of change and a head full of dreams. In the early 90s, in Corunna, Ontario, my friend and I lived for these moments. With a Nintendo hooked up to a chunky old TV, we’d pool our money, hop on our bikes, and head down to Lyndoch Street, where for the princely sum of $3.24 a day, we could rent a new adventure.

New TV Shows Premiering in May 2025

May in Toronto means longer days, patio season is starting, and the first real taste of summer, but let’s be honest, it’s also prime time for catching up on TV once the kids are in bed and the BBQ is cooling down. Whether you’re winding down after a lakeside walk, escaping a surprise spring downpour, or just looking for something new to binge, this month’s lineup of TV premieres is stacked. From returning favourites to buzzworthy new series, here’s what you may want to watch in May 2025.

Why Andor Season 1 is the Star Wars We Deserve

When Andor premiered on Disney+, it quietly redefined what a Star Wars series could be. It wasn’t flashy, it didn’t lean on nostalgia or fan service, and it didn’t rely on Jedi or Sith to carry its weight. Instead, it delivered a grounded, mature, and deeply compelling story about rebellion, sacrifice, and the human cost of fighting tyranny. As I eagerly anticipate Season 2 (April 22nd), it’s worth reflecting on why Andor Season 1 is not just great Star Wars, but one of the finest television series in recent memory.

New TV Shows Premiering in April 2025

April might be known for showers, but this year it is also bringing a downpour of amazing TV shows. For me, this is the month when a few longtime favourites return after years of waiting. While the start of April will still be about college basketball, there is always time for binging the latest streaming hit. Here’s my list of new TV shows premiering in April.
