New TV Shows Premiering in April 2025

April might be known for showers, but this year it is also bringing a downpour of amazing TV shows. For me, this is the month when a few longtime favourites return after years of waiting. While the start of April will still be about college basketball, there is always time for binging the latest streaming hit. Here’s my list of new TV shows premiering in April.

Anticipated Returns

The Rehearsal S2 (April 20, HBO/Crave in Canada): Nathan Fielder’s unique brand of awkward, cringe comedy is something you either love or hate – but either way it is very watchable. For those who don’t know, The Rehearsal features a character played by Nathan Fielder who helps ordinary people rehearse upcoming difficult conversations or life events through the use of sets and actors hired to recreate real situations. I find it hit or miss, but when it hits, it’s some of the most cringe and awkward comedy going.

You S5 (April 24, Netflix): I came to this show late, but I have to admit I am a little addicted to it. The final season of the dark Netflix thriller You will conclude the story of sociopathic lover Joe Goldberg. After spending time in LA and London, Goldberg returns to his former life in New York, believing that he is free from the ghosts of his past. I’m curious about what twisted schemes Joe will cook up next.

Andor S2 (April 22, Disney+): I can’t wait. I was even more excited when they announced the second season would be dropped in 3 episode chapter arcs. Andor writer Tony Gilroy said recently he and his team are taking Star Wars more seriously than anyone has taken it before. Based on what has happened to the rest of the Star Wars universe, I was happy to read this. Andor S2 takes place before the events of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope, bridging the gap to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The story will revolve around a deadly massacre by imperial forces that forms the catalyst for Cassian Andor’s fledgling Rebel Alliance. The first season of Andor was some of the best TV I have seen in many years. Like I said, I can’t wait.

Hacks S4 (April 10, Max/ Crave in Canada): Hacks is a show that could go forever. The TV landscape lacks 30-minute comedies and that is why this show lasts. Plus it’s just plain funny.

The Last of Us S2 (April 13, HBO/Crave in Canada): Some say HBO’s big-budget video game adaptation is the most eagerly anticipated show of April. For me, that is Andor, but Last of Us is a close second. The first was a masterful post-apocalyptic drama mixing epic set-pieces with tender human moments. It’s been so long that I feel like I should watch season 1 again. I am very much looking forward to learning more about the mystery role from Catherine O’Hara.

Something New

Your Friends and Neighbors S1 (April 11, Apple TV+): It seems like it’s been 10 seconds since we have seen Jon Hamm in a new show. Well, here we go. After being fired in disgrace, Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Hamm), a hedge fund manager, is left to grapple with his recent divorce and everything that has happened that caused his life to fall apart. This leads him to steal from his neighbours’ homes in the exceedingly affluent Westmont Village. However, he soon discovers that the secrets and affairs hidden behind the wealthy faces are more dangerous than he ever could have imagined. Let’s enjoy these prestige shows from Apple before they cut the budget after learning they are losing billions on streaming.

Other Shows to Mention

Here are additional shows worth noting for April:

  • Ransom Canyon (Netflix, April 17)
  • Government Cheese (Apple TV+, April 16)
  • Black Mirror S7 (Netflix, April 10)
  • Dying for Sex (FX/Disney+, April 4)
  • The Glass Dome (Netflix, April 15)

What are you looking forward to the most? Oh and before you ask, I have not finished Adolescence yet. It’s a hard watch as I have mentioned before.
