I don’t normally sit down, open WordPress and just start typing. That is not how I write blog posts. But today, I just felt like tapping away on the keys without a plan. Sometimes you just have to.
My faithful laptop died the other day. I was running something on Claude, and everything just went black. The keyboard didn’t work. It was like a power surge happened, expect the power and fan was still going.
FACK.
My laptop is everything to me. It has my life on it (and whatever is in the cloud). So needless to say it’s been a stressful few days. More so than the normal stressful days.
I did all the troubleshooting. I did all the praying. I did all the optimistic, it will be fine in a few hours. But nothing.
I took it into a local shop for diagnosis and the verdict was, the mother-fing motherboard. I am not a tech guy, but that scares me.
So, I am going forward with the repair as the shop seems confident it’s fixable. If it’s not, there is no charge. You kind of have to go for it at that point.
That is where I am sitting now. Waiting. Waiting to hear hopefully good news.
Meanwhile, life moves forward and I am currently typing this on a Frankenstein setup of my oldest son’s Chromebook, an external monitor and a keyboard. No mouse at the moment, cause the Chromebook only has one USB slot and I opted for the keyboard as I can’t type on a tiny Chromebook keyboard.
It’s not the best setup, but it works. It helps me cope. It helps me put in perspective, not is all lost.
This is my trying to roll with it on a Friday.
It really makes you realize how much reliance you have on your personal laptop. For the last day I have been trying to login to things I have not had to enter details for in what seems like years.
My Google password is at least four versions older than what I use for new things. It really tests your brain. And patience.
I think that’s the story. I think I have caught you up on my state of mind.
Now I need to go swap out the keyboard for the mouse so I can do all the little things to make this blog post ready to publish.
Wish my laptop good luck as it goes under the knife. I hope by maybe Monday, things are back to normal.
I guess I can say that my brain still works as I did not use AI at all for this post. Crazy times.
