Have you heard of a new limited series on Netflix called Adolescence? I had not until I saw this headline on the front page of The Guardian. Adolescence review – the closest thing to TV perfection in decades. Now that’s a compelling headline to make you want to learn more.
So of course I went to YouTube and called up the trailer. Oh boy, I don’t know if I am going to be able to watch this one. But I really want to. What do you think?
To give a little context, I have a few areas portrayed in TV shows and movies that I find very hard to watch. When bad things happen to kids or dogs. Do you remember the scene in Breaking Bad where Jesse meets a young boy in a drug house where his parents had just stolen an ATM? I was a new parent, the kid reminded me of our son and the dire situation destroyed me. Yep, I am pretty weak for kid storylines. As for dogs, all I need to say is the book Marley & Me did similar.

Okay, now that we have established my weak points, back to the question at hand. Will I be able to watch Adolescence? It is only four episodes, but it also looks very intense and grueling for any parent to watch. But wait, maybe this will pull me in. The article mentions that each episode is done in a single take. WHAT?
Will you be watching? Have you already binged it? What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
