10 TV shows to look forward to in 2025

As we dive into 2025, the year promises a stellar lineup of TV shows that will keep us glued to our screens. While everyone else is focused on New Year’s resolutions, incoming Presidents, and whatever the latest TikTok trend is, you can be sure I am pretty much focused on what new TV shows are coming. Isn’t that what you really want after a long day?

From returning fan favourites to highly anticipated new series, here are the 10 shows I’m most excited about this year.

My Favourite TV Shows of 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, it’s time to once again reflect on the year of television we’ve had. For many of us, TV isn’t just a way to unwind after a long day; it’s a shared experience that brings friends and families together, sparks conversations, and even gives us those much-needed moments of escape. Whether you’re juggling work deadlines, school drop-offs, or the endless chaos of parenting, finding the right show to watch can feel like striking gold.

This year in my opinion has been top-heavy for memorable shows, while still providing something for everyone—from gripping dramas and laugh-out-loud comedies to shows that transport you to unknown worlds. I know how precious those rare moments of downtime can be. That’s why I’ve put together this list.

Whether you’re looking for something to binge solo after the kids are in bed or a series you can enjoy with your partner, these shows are sure to deliver. So grab your remote, and let’s dive into my favourite TV shows of 2024.

Does Prime Video’s Cross Get Alex Cross Right?

As a long-time fan of James Patterson’s Alex Cross series, I was excited to hear that Prime Video was adapting the character into a TV show. However, after watching the first season of Cross, I can’t help but feel that the show misses the mark in capturing the essence of Alex Cross, despite some strong performances. While it offers an entertaining crime thriller, it falls short of portraying the depth and complexity that has made Alex Cross such an iconic character in modern detective fiction. Cross is probably my favourite literary character, so I was going to be a hard person to please regardless. But hey, let’s investigate.

But before I move forward – if you are new to Alex Cross, here’s the full reading order.

Trailer fest for those who like to know what’s coming

I am a big fan of trailers for upcoming TV shows or movies. I always have been. Sometimes it’s the best part of going to the movies. Now with the likes of YouTube, you get those trailers at home as soon as they happen. You also get the trailers very, very, very early. Like years in advance in some cases. It’s become a separate industry, to be honest. You have small teasers, big teasers, and official trailers now just to build hype.

Personally I think they are starting to be too early and by the time the show or movie comes out you have mega-fatigue and don’t care anymore.

New TV shows premiering in November 2024

November is shaping up to be an exciting month for TV watchers (streamers?), with a wide array of new and returning shows hitting the screens. Whether you’re into thrillers, dramas, or reality TV, there’s something for everyone. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated TV shows premiering in November.

The Office Australia: A mixed bag of nostalgia and novelty

I love The Office. Whether it is the original starring Ricky Gervais or the surprising US version starring Steve Carel, I could not get enough. So the recent release of The Office Australia on Prime Video had me very excited to see if they could strike gold again. As the 13th adaptation of the iconic series originally created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, this version attempts to carve out its own identity while paying homage to its predecessors. Here’s a look at what makes it stand out and where it falls short.
