Every Friday I fire off a list of things I think you need to know. Want me to know something in return? Leave it in the comments.
Happy International Women’s Day everyone. Before getting into this week’s list of super unimportant things you need to know, I wanted to send a message to the handful of women who are pretty vital to my life and happiness.
First, need to start with my Mum. If you were to break down all the good, bad, and ugly that I am made of, most of it, if not all, started with her. While we don’t talk as much as we used to, there are still many funny moments and references that come up day-to-day that remind me of her and my very enjoyable childhood.
Next up, ma wife! She is easily the most important woman to me in every way. I need to remind myself often just how lucky I am that I managed to convince her I was the one. My wife does it all, career, mother, and driving force. I also know she reads this every day so I better say something nice.
Speaking of those who I know read this blog, I have to shout out another influential and supportive woman in my life, my mother-in-law. You can throw out all the cliche bad mother-in-law jokes here. Again, very lucky.
Without going on and on, there is also my sister, who is a great example of someone who literally does it all.
The point being, that today is a day to shout from the rooftops or a blog, about how awesome the women are in your life.
TV Time – I have mentioned it before, but my worry over quality TV slowing down, is starting to feel better. The year is starting to ramp up after only a few big ticket shows during the first few months. Shogun is a mega-hit and if you have not watched it, go do that now. We will be checking out The Regime soon. The Gentlemen on Netflix looks interesting. But a trailer came out yesterday that has me very excited, and it’s for a video game I have not even played. Check out this trailer for Fallout, which will be on Amazon Prime.
I checked with someone who loves the game and they said that it’s like the game has come to life and looks amazing.
ANT Block – For the NBA fans out there, last night there was a play so crazy that I had to watch it over and over again to make sure it was real. With the game on the line, Anthony Edwards aka ANT MAN, had a block we have never seen before. Seriously look at this.
He hit his head on the rim and bottom of the backboard to make the game-saving block. Oh and by the way, he also had 44 points. Goodness.
Oscars time – Everyone’s favourite award show to hate is back this weekend. But unlike most years, I have actually seen a few of the movies and I’m not talking about the animated category. I am looking forward to what Jimmy Kimmel has to say, I am looking forward to seeing how many Oppenheimer wins, and I am looking forward to the show being on an hour earlier than normal. Who do you see winning best picture? Oh, yes, there is the live performance by Ryan Gosling as well. Did you see Will Smith appealed his 10-year ban to try and be in attendance to see the Barbie song? Crazy stuff. I am not really sure it’s true, but funny to imagine.
Daylight saving – If the fact that the Oscars are already an hour early, here is a reminder that Daylight Saving Time is this weekend. We spring ahead. The day will feel shorter, but the sunlight is longer.
Finally – It’s been a busy week at HQ. My wife was away for work which left me as the “lead parent”, a term that my wife and I tend to use in a humourous way. But I do have some takeaways from driving the boat for a few days. That will be for another time. Stay tuned.
Have a great weekend everyone.
