Good day fellow travelers, how goes the battles against monsters under the bed?
In wake of yesterday’s terrible news in Boston, there is really nothing to watch or listen to that is not about the fall out of the bombings. While tragic and deeply sad, I can’t take the 24-hour news machine. It makes it even worse that we get all the Boston stations. They are just saying the same thing over and over again, waiting for something to break so they can report it first.
Luckily I have a happy baby boy to take care of and play with.
Today has been another pretty easy day in the world of Charlie. It has been two weeks and I would have to say, I grabbed the routine my wife carved out and kept it going at full speed.
Charlie loves his structured day and you can tell when he gets off the rails a bit – because he gets LOUD.
Also on the play list of Charlie, is teeth coming in. We have seen at least a few and you can feel a few more. Ouchy.
But to be honest, he has been a trooper.
Last night he was awake before Day 11 even started, I was in bed for about nine minutes when the teeth must have shifted because he got really mad, really fast. Took almost an hour to calm him down and get him back to sleep. Poor little guy.
Short of that, my wife and I were just saying yesterday how mellow he is getting. There are very few freak outs when he does not get his way or when he could ask for food. He is sticking to the handful of time stamps we have throughout the day.
So that has me wondering, is this becoming too easy? Each day, Charlie is a delight to hang out with and do stuff with. He gives me plenty of me time and I get a lot done around the house.
Nights are pretty good as well. So is there a storm looming to shake everything up again? Oh of course there is. The thing is, we don’t know what that is.
It keeps me on my toes, that is for sure.
Will it be a few more weeks of terrible teething nights? Maybe growing pains? Or maybe something we can’t even predict.
Charlie started on his fruits this week. Apple sauce to be exact. So that is rice, barley and oat in the books for food. I would not say he loves it all, but he eats it all.
We also do a lot of tummy time and practicing of sitting each day. We are pretty close on the sitting. This week maybe. That will help in many ways, especially bath time as Charlie has almost grown out of his portable bath. He needs to be in the big bath.
Lots of changes coming up. The next month or so is going to be a lot of fun around here. I just can’t help looking for that storm over my shoulder.
