Best meats to cook on Big Green Egg

Even though it’s the dead of winter, it’s hard not to think about firing up the Big Green Egg and cooking some meat.

People always ask me, do you still grill in the winter? While I have not yet done it in 2024, I did smoke a ham for Christmas.

Whether it’s hot and steamy, or cold and icey, it’s always nice to be outside fussing over tempertures and the size of your fire.

So to keep me fired up so to speak, I thought it would be fun to cover the best meats to cook on the Big Green Egg. These are the meats I get the most joy out of cooking as well as the final product.

Big Green Egg Jerk Chicken Recipe

Over the years, I have grilled, smoked, baked and added fire to many recipes in the backyard. One dish that keeps getting requested by my wife is Big Green Egg jerk chicken.

Recently, to help celebrate my wife’s birthday, I whipped up a batch of jerk chicken and this time around wanted to share the recipe with you.

There are few dishes I make that pack more flavour into the final product than jerk chicken. For almost a full day, the spicy smell of pepper is stuck in your nose and on your hands. This is not a bad thing.

Top 10 Foods To Grill On Big Green Egg

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love to post photos of my latest Big Green Egg dish. You will also know that 90% of the photos are of meat. I love meat. Smoked or grilled, it doesn’t matter. It all tastes delish thanks to my giant green friend.

I have owned a Big Green Egg for four years and I have pretty much tried everything I want to try to date. The only recipe I want to still test is smoking a full turkey. There has been beef, chicken, pork, eggs, pizza and several veggie dishes to date. There have been some misses, but generally everything I cook on the Egg is a hit. Even our picky kids eat the food.

So without spending much more time getting your mouths watering, here is a little list that chronicles my experiences and my favourite meals to grill on the Big Green Egg.

Big Green Egg Makes The Best Tasting Chicken Wings

You want to argue? Let me introduce you to my wife and kids.

Yes, the Big Green Egg once again dazzled and won the hearts of dinner fans again this weekend. I went to the grocery store thinking nachos and I left with a pack of chicken wings. Crazy how the meat aisle and a mild day in March can get you to change your mind.

The outcome was simple. Season some wings, throw them in the smoker for a few hours and let the magic happen.

I don’t want to make it sounds like I’m Myron Mixon, but I make some of the tastiest wings going. Every time I serve them at a get together of friends, the talk of the party is not Canadian Politics, the weather or even what’s up with work, it is all about the spicy and savoury chicken.

Cooking Eggs On Big Green Egg

As Tom Haverford would probably say, that’s eggs on eggs on eggs.

Yes, the Big Green Egg is just not for grilling and smoking meat. You can do vegetables like corn on the cob, baked beans and you can even do breakfast.

I had never done breakfast on the Egg until now. On Mother’s Day I wanted to make something different for breakfast. The mom of the house (my wife) enjoys a good plate of eggs and a side of meat. So I thought, why not try out something I saw done on my day with the people from La Grille.
