I have watched the full first season of this show. I have recommended it to at least four people. And I still cannot remember what it is called.
I have called it Bad Mistakes. I have called it Big Problems. I have called it “that Dan Levy show.” My wife has corrected me every single time. The actual title is Big Mistakes, and it is one of my favourite shows of 2026 so far. Given that I cannot name it, that should tell you something.
Big Mistakes is a dark-comedy thriller on Netflix, created by Dan Levy and Rachel Sennott. Levy stars as Nicky alongside Taylor Ortega as Morgan. They play two completely useless siblings who accidentally stumble into organized crime and spend eight episodes making every wrong decision available to them. It moves fast and does not waste your time.
If I were to describe it, I would say Schitt’s Creek meets Barry, with a hint of Ozark. The Netflix algorithm figured out that combination was going to work, and for once, they were right.
Levy and Ortega are one of the best sibling duos I have seen on TV since David and Alexis Rose (go figure, right?). That is a high bar, and they clear it. Nicky has the same dry, whiny, completely self-involved energy that made David Rose so watchable, except now he is operating somewhere with actual consequences. Every bad call lands harder for it. Morgan is the chaos. Together, they are a disaster you cannot stop watching.
Then, coming off the top rope is Laurie Metcalf, who plays Linda, their mother. My wife said she is what you would get if Jamie Lee Curtis’s character in The Bear was even more unhinged. That is accurate, and also deeply unsettling. Every time I see her on screen, I can’t help thinking Emmy nom.
The writing is sharp. The pacing does not let up. The whole thing is ridiculous in a way that still keeps you genuinely nervous.
Already greenlit for season two. If you have not watched it, this weekend is the time. It is a quick eight-episode binge. When you search for it, it is called Big Mistakes. Not Bad Mistakes, not Big Problems, not “the Dan Levy one.”
I have been told this multiple times. I will probably still get it wrong.
Big Mistakes is on my TV Power Rankings for 2026. Check the full list to see where it lands.
