Well that was a dramatic title. No the blog is not over.
What I am referring to is how yesterday was the first weekday this year where I did not file a post. I opened up the screen and nothing. Nothing came to mind. Nothing seemed interesting to write about. I scanned Twitter, which is usually my idea generator, had nothing of note. I think we are all tired of Taylor and Travis.
So I thought about the streak. I thought about how I had written 500 words every weekday since 2024 started. I really tried, but all that was going to come out would feel very forced and the whole point of what I am doing is to not force it.
That streak is over. It was a good run. I even started to see decent traffic again as I have become friends with Google again for organic traffic. In case you are wondering, it’s all Big Green Egg related.
People like to search chicken recipes, that’s for sure.
Now, here I am a day later and trying to get the writing vibe going again. What’s pushing me to put words down? Well I don’t want 2 days of no posts. My handful of readers will start to worry.
The sun is out. It’s back to being winter cold. It’s Valentine’s Day. What’s not to love?
Tonight Pascal returns to Scotiabank. Our kids have a dentist appointment. We are half way through the month of February already.
Okay, okay. Here we go. Words are coming back. This is a good start to a new streak.
This is much better for the mind than using Chat GPT and asking it to write a strange blog post just to keep things going. Although it would be interesting to see what it would say.
It’s NBA All-Star weekend in a few days. Something I look forward to and don’t look forward to. It’s a lot of hype and production that ususally doesn’t end up in much actual substance.
The dunk contest is lame. The actual game is boring. But I still watch as much as I can.
I am looking forward to the shoot out between Steph Curry and Sabrina Ionescu. I like that they are trying out new things to try and create interest.
The weekend won’t have a lot of Toronto Raptors content other than Scottie Barnes and I think we will be happy to be out of the city for a few days with how the fans are picking on him for walking off the court the other night.
Next up on the schedule is a Family Day weekend in Ontario. For the kids that means a super long weekend, with a PA Day on Friday and Family Day on Monday. I am sure we will get up to some fun things.
Today’s entry has bee all over the place so far. Thanks to whoever has read this far. It’s part of the process. It’s part of getting things back to making sense.
It is what happens when I try to write and listen to a podcast at the same time. My brain is having a harder time focusing than it used to. Age man.
Thanks for sticking around. Better days are ahead. More BBQ, more dad stories, more TV updates and more of what’s on my mind.
