Ah the holidays. A time for celebrating with family and drinking beer while singing carols. Wait? Really? Sure why not.
You know what beer I prefer when belting out the classics?
It is one of my favourite beers and if I have enough of them, I would probably sing whatever Christmas jingle you requested.
If you want to see other beer fans sing a few songs, Heineken gave a few lucky strangers the chance to brave the crowd and belt their favourite holiday carol in front of thousands of strangers.
Now that would take 24 beers for me to do.
Heineken challenged New Yorkers to karaoke a holiday carol to an audience of thousands way beyond the karaoke room, and I wanted to share with you the results.
A bunch of unsuspecting people were in for an evening of Carol Karaoke at Karaoke Boho in the NYC’s West Village. The deal was, as long as they promised to sing one carol.
The twist, those who decided to keep singing were broadcasted directly into well-known public places, including a Jumbotron at an NBA game, on the TV of every NYC taxi for a week, and on a famed Times Square billboard.
Imagine? You are famous in seconds, maybe for the wrong reasons.
Watch the video for yourself, could you do it?

So here are the results.
A recent survey for Heineken revealed:
- The favorite holiday tune is “Jingle Bell Rock” (31%), followed by “Winter Wonderland” (20%).
- For those who want to flex their vocal cords, a little Mariah Carey will go a long way – the third most favorite song to sing is “All I Want for Christmas is You” (13%).
- 56% think karaoke in front of friends and family is less embarrassing than in front of strangers.
Would you or wouldn’t you jingle bell rock for a crowd of thousands?
