Friday Newsletter – How long would it take to dig a tunnel under NYC?

Every Friday I fire off a list of things I think you need to know. Want me to know something in return? Leave it in the comments.

New TV – I saw an ad for a new TV show called ‘Chrissy and Dave Dine out’ and it stars Chrissy Teigen and David Chang and appears to be them just having dinner parties. I am a sucker for a new food show and Chrissy and Dave have great chemistry on TV. It makes me miss Ugly Delicious. This hits TV on January 24th on Hulu, which probably means Disney + in Canada.

Hot gadget – Anyone else have cold feet in the basement? My wife does, especially from working in the home office all day. I keep seeing this small fireplace heater“>you can click here.

Reminder – In case you have not been reminded by going into any retail store, there is only one month until Valetine’s Day. This year it falls on a Wednesday.

Podcasting – What’s your go-to pod each week? I have a few. If it isn’t Bill Simmons or Smartless, I am most likely listening to Mike Birbiglia’s podcast – Working it Out. If you want to jump in I suggest the Pete Holmes one just before Christmas.

Food for thought – I have been on a fried chicken kick for the last month or so. This is not a new dish by any means. But what has really got me fired (fried?) up about it again is the success I have had by using a wok. I learned from Kenji that it’s much safer and it’s easier to move your chicken around. I like it much better than a dutch oven or a cast iron pan. A deep fryer with a basket would be the only way to make it even better. Oh and I picked up a new and more reliable meat thermometer. You can’t do chicken and not use one. How do you do fried chicken? Have you tried it in a wok?

X facts – So what’s the word on the former Twitter this week? The main topics I have seen are Toronto Property taxes, Darko losing his shit and the tunnels under Brooklyn story.

Return of the Blue Jays – Look what came out this week! The official 2024 schedule for every Toronto Blue Jays game. What do I look for first? I see the Jays are playing the New York Yankees on my birthday.
